The Yancheng Wetland and Natural World Heritage Conservation and Management Center officially released the “Yancheng City Bird Checklist V2.0 (2023 Edition)”. The Checklist indicates that by the end of the city’s wintering bird survey (February 2024), Yancheng has recorded a total of 442 wild bird species, belonging to 23 orders and 73 families, accounting for 29.4% of China’s total bird species (referencing A Checklist on the Classification and Distribution of the Birds of China, 4th Edition edited by Academician Zheng Guangmei). This includes 181 species of passerines (Order Passeriformes, 33 families) and 261 species of non-passerines (22 orders, 40 families), including 186 species of waterbirds (12 orders, 26 families).
