Species and Ecological Conservation

We have intensified our efforts to protect key species by prioritizing habitat restoration for rare and endangered  species, including the red-crowned cranes, spoon-billed sandpipers, greenshanks, black-billed gulls, oriental white storks, and reed parrotbills. We have also established comprehensive ecosystems in typical habitats, such as freshwater wetlands, salt marshes, and grasslands, which has significantly enhanced the biodiversity of both the heritage site and its buffer zones.

We have strengthened the ecological restoration of our heritage site by emphasizing its universal value and adopting nature-based solutions. The Yellow Sea Wetlands Ecological Restoration Pilot Zone and the Spartina Alterniflora Management Zone have been established at places such as the estuaries of Sheyang River, Doulonggang River, and Chuanshuigang River. Pilot projects aimed at improving and sustainably managing habitats for rare and endangered species, like the red-crowned cranes, have been launched in the experimental zones of the Rare Bird Sanctuary and in the degraded habitats within the buffer zones.
